Yashobhoomi fire curtains
Fire curtains fixed in place and smoke curtains that drop on alarm, planned zone by zone, through the halls of the India International Convention and Expo Centre in Dwarka.
Yashobhoomi from the outside. The picture shows the venue itself; the curtains sit inside it.
The challenge
Huge halls open into one another, and several of the openings between them are far larger than any doorway.
Each one needed fire compartmentation that keeps the spaces open in daily use, closes on the fire alarm, and fits curtain sizes well past standard limits.
Width against depth
The longest fixed curtain here and the deepest automatic drop, drawn on one grid beside a person 1.7 metres tall.
The drop is shown as a single line because the point is its depth: a curtain falling 21 metres from its head box, more than twelve times the height of the person at the floor.
Supplied for the venue
